We are strategically unifying the industry to advocate for producers. Our organization originated on the belief that ethical advocacy can transform agricultural industries, influence policy development, and create opportunities for growth in Canadian cannabis farming.
After two years of executive-level leadership studies in the Advanced Agricultural Leadership Program (AALP), the first cannabis farmer selected to participate in the 40+ year history of the program, graduates AALP Class 20. The farmer learned about the crossover between cannabis farming and other ag sectors, and how agriculture can support cannabis farmers. The experiences, knowledge, and relationships formed in the agricultural leadership program set the blueprint for the Federation of Cannabis Farmers.
The founder identified several gaps in the cannabis farming industry. Since legalization, an agricultural commodity organization has yet to exist. Cannabis associations existed, but were not collaborating together to support the industry. Cannabis lobbyist groups existed, but were structured unethically and unfairly represented the industry. The founder believed there was an opportunity to form an ethical cannabis board that advocates for the farmer's interests at a national level. This is why the journey began.
The founder began researching and networking with agricultural commodity boards, general farming organizations, and agricultural government officials across Canada. The objectives were to research; the history of longstanding commodity organizations, the relationship between commodity boards and farming organizations, and the importance of national commodity boards for federal government, agricultural farmers, and their respective farming commodities. Mission accomplished.
Inspired by longstanding agricultural commodity boards and farming organizations, the founder set out to develop a commodity organization aimed to support current and future generations of cannabis farmers. The founder prepared a comprehensive not-for-profit business plan that supports its membership and the industry. A fair and ethical producer-led organization. An organizational framework designed with succession in mind. A cannabis farming commodity organization that advocates for its farmers.
A federation of federations. Inspired by the Canadian Federation of Agriculture (CFA), FCF aims to form a national not-for-profit corporation when the first commodity organization completes its goals in the province. The National Federation of Cannabis Farmers (NFCF) aligns the regional federations and approved associations under one banner. This framework allows for fair, democratic, and equal representation in a national organization. A producer-led cannabis board that ethically represents the industry.
With a truly unique value proposition prepared for its farm members and the industry, the organization began forming a team. The inaugural team is comprised of cannabis researchers, professors, quality assurance experts, international strategists, government officials, and industry subject matter experts. The inaugural board agreed to lead the organization until the board transitions into a fully producer-led board of directors, at which the inaugural team will be invited to join FCF's Advisory Board.
At the first meeting of members, the membership adopted the corporation by-laws and elected the directors of the corporation. The directors appointed the chairperson who was responsible for incorporating the federation in Ontario. The Federation of Cannabis Farmers (FCF) was federally incorporated as a not-for-profit commodity organization under Corporations Canada on September 23, 2025.
This is where our story begins.
The Federation of Cannabis Farmers (FCF) is unanimously voted in by Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) board of directors as Ontario's cannabis farming commodity organization on October 17, 2025.
The Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA) is the largest general farming organization in Canada representing the interest of nearly 40,000 farm family members and agricultural commodity organizations in Ontario.
A motion is passed by the Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) board of directors to draft a letter of support for FCF on November 12, 2025. This letter affirms CFFO's backing for this segment of the agricultural industry.
The Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario (CFFO) is an accredited farm organization representing over 4,000 farm families in Ontario. CFFO members embrace a Christian perspective in farming and agricultural stewardship.
FCF finalizes business development of the national commodity board. The national commodity board unifies all segments of the cannabis farming industry across Canada. From FCF organizations to NFCF-approved cannabis industry associations, NFCF aims to unify the voice of cannabis producers under one ethical and fair banner. By-laws, community guidelines, membership policy, privacy policy, and terms of service have been approved. The NFCF headquarters will be incorporated in British Colombia.
Presented by ADCANN, a respected cannabis media and awards organization, the Rookie of the Year award recognizes a new cannabis brand that made the most impact in 2025. This award reflects FCF's social impact and affirms the organization's role as a commodity organization representing Health Canada licenced producers. This milestone strengthens credibility for government grant applications that can fund practical member services and projects that directly support farmers across Canada.
